As an almost invisible heat exchange surface, its large area ensures a very pleasant, draught-free indoor climate, whether by cooling or heating.
To permit cooling, the heat pump process is simply operated in reverse, meaning that heat is withdrawn from the building by the heat pump and conveyed outside. The actual cooling of the rooms is performed mainly by the underfloor heating system, which is now virtually standard in all new buildings. In rooms without underfloor heating the ROTEX HP fan convector can be used, which is likewise capable of taking on the double function of heating and cooling.

Minimal expense – huge results
So there are no additional upfront costs – but what about ongoing consumption costs? Computer simulations by the Institute for Building Energetics at the University of Stuttgart have demonstrated that the expense involved is comparatively low. The costs calculated for cooling the living room in their example came to 10 to 20 euros per year.
